Control of Quality – Dimensions of product quality
Product quality originates from the same principles and practices as does Project Quality. However, the indicators and dimensions of quality are different for products than for projects.

Dimensions of Product Quality

  • Performance
measurable attributes such as capacity and power
  • Features
“bells and whistles” such as extra cycles, automatic tuners
  • Reliability
probability of malfunction within a specified time period, downtime
  • Conformance
operating characteristics meeting established standards
  • Durability
amount of use before deterioration
  • Serviceability
speed, courtesy, competence, ease of repair and maintenance
  • Aesthetics
look, feel, sound, taste, smell
  • Perceived Quality
reputation
