Project
Reporting
We now turn to the topic of reporting, the final step in
the five-point functional model for project management. Reporting
is the function that links the model together in a repetitive
cycle throughout the project lifecycle.
Project managers are responsible for reporting
on project progress to the customer and other stakeholders.
This is consistent with the project manager’s responsibility
for customer liaison.
The Project Manager is also responsible for creating the Project
Communication Plan.
Communications management is so important in modern project
management that often it is included as an activity on the
first tier of the WBS. Communications planning helps create
an environment of cooperation within the project team and with
external stakeholders, and it is often tightly linked with
organizational planning. |
