Projects and People: Focusing
on the Customer
Everyone on the project team is likely to have a different
perspective, but for the success of the project the entire
team needs to share a common perspective, and that must reflect
the needs and expectations of the customer.
Project decisions become clearer if the entire team adopts
the concept that every project has a customer. This means that
it is important for the project manager and team to clearly
identify the customer and clarify their expectations.
We will address this topic again in the lesson on Project
Objectives. For now it is enough to know that project success
is going to be defined largely by whether or not you satisfy
the needs and expectations of the customer.
