The Matrix
Organization
The matrix organization draws project team members from
functional departments. The project manager orchestrates “what,
when, and how much” – the triangle. The functional
manager is responsible for the resources, or “who,
how, and where.” The goal is a balanced matrix, where
both the project manager and the functional manager are
of equal strength, and each recognizes their respective
roles and responsibilities.
