… Disadvantages
of the project/product organization:
- In multi-project organizations,
there may be duplication of effort, facilities, and personnel
across projects. Therefore, it can be more expensive to
run.
- Personnel without another project to go to tend to linger
on a project longer than they are needed; personnel with
another project to go to tend to leave before you want them
to.
- Without a functional department
to call “home”,
professional growth and therefore the development of capabilities
for the organization’s future may be neglected.
- Specialists may experience a lack of career opportunities
or chances for technical exchanges. Projects may lose the
opportunity for technical exchanges among projects.
