This example shows the relationship between a product breakdown structure and a work breakdown structure. Notice how the WBS includes all the work that goes into the project, not just the work that goes into the product. In other words, work elements like project management, systems engineering, and integrated logistics are also work activities. If you forget to include these in the WBS you are leaving out vital parts of the scope. These are the coordination and communication tasks that “glue” the product components into a complete project.
