Notice how the decomposition goes from one assembly level to the next lower to the next lower. Only one branch of the WBS is developed in this example. Is this a good WBS?

Remember, the test of a good WBS is when the lowest level of subdivided work is small enough to permit adequate control and visibility without creating an unwieldy administrative burden. So, is this example a WBS, or is it a parts list? How would you like to be the task leader of the “o-ring task?” This particular example decomposes the product too far by going all the way to the parts level.
