The following objectives statement actually appeared in a task order to a contractor.

  1. To establish electronic communications between the project office and the contractor as early as feasible during the planning phase using primarily existing hardware and software;

  2. To enhance this communications capability as much as possible within the constraints of planning phase schedules and resources and without prematurely committing to a particular design phase architecture;

  3. To develop the MIS requirements and to initially define an optimum Project Management Information System and data base structure for the design and development phases which encompasses the prime contractor, the project office, company department’s/division’s organizations and appropriate support contractor organizations;

  4. To develop a plan for transition from the planning phase MIS to the design and development phase MIS.

  5. To develop during the planning phase a working MIS and data base structure for tracking action items generated by major reviews.
