Project
Reporting: examples (continued)
This is a typical cover sheet for a project manager’s
report. It
may not be much fun, but project managers must report on performance
metrics of all the combined tasks of a project, then analyze the data
to advise the stakeholders of problems and corrective actions.
In this
report, the PM shows full Earned Value Management (EVM) data: CV, SV,
and EAC. The subsequent sections show Problem Analysis, Corrective
Action Plan, and EAC Impact (the projection of cost at the end of the
project).
The section on Impact requires discussion
on the effect of problems on this project’s tasks and on other projects in the company’s
portfolio.
Managers and other stakeholders read the first
page of reports, and scan the rest. The first page must “report
by exception.” |
